Kalakram 3.0- An event worth witnessing!!!
As a student of St. Xavier's College, Mapusa which you all would have been familiar by now is one of the most popular and talked about colleges in Goa, I get an opportunity to witness many inter-collegiate events that take place at our campus organized by various departments. But the most captivating of all of these was an inter-collegiate event organized by the NSS just recently and that was the 'Kalakram 3.0'.
'Kalakram' as the word essentially translates as 'art sequence', it portrayed the traditional cultural dance forms and singing of our very dear and beloved Mother India including our folk cultural dances such as the 'shigmoh' as well as our very own 'mando' with girls and boys swaying together accompanied with the playing of the 'ghumot'- the traditional percussion instrument of Goa as well as a violinist to give a melodious rhythm to the beautiful singing of the performers on stage. These were the performances that marked the beginning of the event or what you could say were the 'inaugurals'. As customary in any inter-collegiate event organized on our campus, they had invited a chief guest who shared his views of the importance of preserving our cultural traditions and more importantly taking pride in actually showcasing it in the face of modernization that we're currently experiencing in today's world and he expressed his sincere wishes to all the participants of the competition urging them to not look at it from the point of view of winning the competition though that is the sole motive, but in terms of actually having given your participation in it, thereby enhancing your personal development, which were really true and encouraging words to the participants.
At the entrance to the venue which was at the Ark Hall, there was a beautiful 'Rangoli' made out of colored powder with the logo mentioned at the centre along with a nice cardboard piece of it mentioned in nice orange colored letters. Besides that, what could be really admired most of all, was the fact that all the volunteers involved in organizing and taking charge of the event were all wearing traditional Indian wear so as to give a traditional and cultural feel to the whole event.
Though I may have not stayed to watch the whole event, I really enjoyed each and every moment of it right from the start till the time I had left and have captured some really good highlights of the event to look back on as memories of the event!!!!
