Trespassing the Roads Of The Ancient Motherland....

It has been a while since I have last posted on this blog. A constant jitter of memories strikes my mind as I keep thinking of the place where I was born and brought up in, a place rooted deep down in culture and tradition, a place that is a true representation of what it feels when all cultures come together and produce an 'amalgamation', a place where nothing but unity exists in the midst of diverse cultures and diverse people. There is no other better word to describe this place, or a melting pot of culture and traditions, than the Emirate or State of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.

Sharjah is a city that has always stuck close to my heart right from birth. It is the place where when you would take a stroll on the streets and footpaths, you are immediately exposed to Moroccan, Egyptian and the Middle Eastern worlds through the restaurants that dot the roads of the 'Jamal Abdul Nasser Street' which with their Arabic music and smell of the 'Lebanese roastery' do not fail to serve as a reminder of the Arabic world and the significance it holds in this part of the world, when you walk across to the 'Al Majaz Waterfront', you are immediately enthralled with the array of restaurants and cafe's symbolic of the Western world from the likes of 'Tim Horton', to 'TGIF' and many other restaurants besides witnessing the waterfountain which with it's accompanying Arabic or European music does not fail to enlighten and arouse one's spirits, more so the traditional 'Central Souk of Sharjah' which till date has stood the test of time with the traditional Arabic designs that it showcases to the world and people all around, besides serving as a reminder of the marketplace of the ancient times. Not forgetting, the Abu Shagara Park which remains very pertinent in my memory of the good old times we would spend together in the short outings we had as a family, and ofcourse the Lulu Hypermarket or Al Falah Plaza as used to be known back in the old days, was another place which holds a very significant part of my memories till date, as that used to be the hypermarket where we would all go to do our major shopping and groceries.

There have been many other places and sites which if I would take the time to recall, bring along with it some really great memories such as the 'Lahori Kabab Restaurant', where you would get to see the Pakistanis and also get to savour their kababs, the Mega Mall which with it's Arabic incense and sales staff in constant watch to allure the customers to purchase their perfumes. One cannot forget about the 'Antics Land' which was the place where kids in my time would go to play in the rides that it had to offer, get tickets and redeem the tickets for exciting prizes.

All of these places together bring in some really surprising and fascinating memories. What's more- there have been new attractions and sites coming up, the landscape is constantly changing, what might have been present 2 years back is not there anymore. This really goes to such an extent to showcase on how temporary is the nature of the things in and around here. Before I end with this blogpost, I would like to send out to you all my viewers that I am finally back to my beloved homeland- U.A.E. No matter if you might send me to the US or to as far as Australia or UK, my heart still goes back to the one and only place Sharjah, U.A.E which has always been close to my heart and will forever been near to my heart. It is where I began my life, finished my school, left to go on a brief stint to Goa, and after 3 years I am finally back once again to my humble bearings! Here's to the best city and the best place I have and will always regard for life!!!

Hello Bryce. well penned. And a lot has cropped up in the last 3 years! Flag island, House of Wisdom, The Heart of Sharjah, The flying saucer, The drive in at Al Jada etc.
But a lot remains the same....the expansive corniche, the nurseries adjacent to Al Jubail, Mithaas, Sharjah Aquarium etc.
So enjoy your walks, reconnect with the 'Culture Capital of the UAE', discover new places and revisit old ones.
Marhaba....Welcome back
