This blogpost was a job assignment that I got from Nas Daily on applying for the company, but since I didn't manage to get through the hiring process, I thought of turning it into a beautiful blogpost to you all my readers. This is a short review of a video as titled above that documents the life-story and success of Nas Daily....
This video
is a short story into the life of our founder and CEO- Nouseir Yassin. It revolves
around how he overcame the challenges and obstacles that stood past his way of
success. It also talks about how he utilized every opportunity that came in his
way to catapult him to one of the most successful ever media startups in
history. It is a classic example of opportunity that enabled him rise from a
simple village kid to getting into Harvard University in the United States
after which there was no looking back.
It all began
when Nouseir was a young boy. Growing up as a Palestinian in Israeli territory,
there was often little to no opportunity available for aspiring individuals
like himself to seek for higher studies. It was often a bleak picture painted
in the wake of growing struggles and the ever-present conflicts between the
Israelis and Palestinians. Having endured all the struggles that characterized
his early childhood, he began his early education in one of the makeshift schools
set up in his village.
One day, his English teacher- Jamal Al Assadi had invited Martha, an American woman from Ohio to volunteer as an English teacher for an hour. As she started conducting the class for the day, Nouseir was caught by amazement. He couldn’t believe that she was an American hailing from the United States- a place he had dreamt for most of his life. He quickly formed bonds with the teacher and her son with whom he used to exchange emails and became a close buddy.
As weeks and
months passed, Nouseir suddenly got a call from Martha. He was invited over for
a holiday to visit them at their house in Ohio. This caught him by surprise as
he had never expected to receive such an invitation. He spent the next weeks of
his holiday exploring the places around with their family when all of a sudden,
Martha asked him to visit her son, Eli. Eli was at that time, pursuing his higher
studies at Harvard University. After being persuaded a couple of times, he
eventually decided to visit him at the university.
His visit to
the university proved to be the most fruitful and life-changing moment ever.
All throughout his life, he had grown with the perception that Harvard like all
other institutions, was only for the smart and enterprising lot of people.
However, on interaction with some of the students, he discovered that all of
them were normal human beings, all with a ‘light’ beaming in their hearts to
‘change the world’ and leave an endearing mark.
Impressed at
all he saw, he then set forth to Ohio at age of 19, applied for the university
and to his good luck, was granted admission. After spending some years in
university, he graduated and moved on to New York City where he got a
high-paying job at Venmo. It was from there that he discovered a ‘deep and
thoughtful voice from within’. A voice that had for long, yearned to ‘change
the world’ and have a subliminal impact for decades to come.
This led him to be the founder of one of the most successful ever startup media companies in the history of the media landscape- ‘Nas Daily’ in 2016. He visited countless countries, connected with lots of people, created many videos, and even published a book on his travels. This has to the present, served as a voice for thousands and millions of under-represented people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. All of them united under one common vision- ‘to be the change’.
All that Nouseir needed, was for someone to open the door a little bit more for him, to enable him seize the opportunity. His parents gave him the opportunity to be free and explore what he was interested in. His English teacher- Jamal Al Assadi also provided him an opportunity by inviting Martha to volunteer at his English class. And lastly, Martha’s family gave him the opportunity to transform into a great and successful individual.
This story is a true example of how we must seize every opportunity that comes past our way, to achieve greater heights and milestones. It also goes to show that with a clear vision and dedication, we can achieve all the things that life has in-store for us, and to that level, become better and greater versions of ourselves to the world around!
