Eid ul Adha

It's an early Friday morning of the hot summer month of June. With the sun almost rising from the horizon - the birds can be seen flying from afar as they emerge from their nests to make haste for a brand new special day - Eid ul Adha!

As the sun's rays penetrate from the depths of the horizon - the sound of the call for prayer can be heard very distinctly from the mosques of the neighbourhood. Calling out to the Almighty, the preacher gives thanks to God for this special day in poetic chants heard that enliven the entire Levantine neighbourhood.

The congregation are filled with smiles as they greet each other, celebrating a spirit of communion, spirit of hope and a spirit of steadfastness in their faith that has blessed them all to be in the best and one of the safest countries in the entire Middle East - the UAE!

Well written Bryce and Eid Mubarak to all. This Feast is a remembrance of how God tests Abraham's faith by commanding him to sacrifice his son, Isaac, as a burnt offering. Abraham, demonstrating his obedience and unwavering faith, prepares to fulfill God's request, but an angel intervenes, stopping him from carrying out the sacrifice. God provides a ram instead, symbolizing his provision and his willingness to spare Isaac. Let us continue to pray that the Holy Spirit enables us to grow in our Faith like Abraham and obey our God by doing His Will at all times. Let us also thank God for this Country in which we are allowed to practice our Faith so freely and fearlessly. Amen.

Kudos Bryce. Well written piece which showcases the solidarity of our Muslim brethren celebrating their beloved festival. In an equal measure we too need to send up our gratitude to The Almighty for blessing us to be living in a safe and secular environment.
